Now that Gilas Pilipinas has celebrated its Southeast Asian Games gold medal win, Tim Cone will have to turn his attention to the task at hand.
Cone and the Ginebra Gin Kings will take on the NorthPort Batang Pier as the PBA Governors Cup semifinals get going on Saturday after a 2-week break.
The Kings will clash with the 8th-seeded Batang Pier at 6:30 p.m. in their best-of-five semifinals at the Araneta Coliseum.
Cone said they cannot afford to underestimate the Batang Pier who toppled top seed NLEX in the quarterfinals.
"We know NorthPort is coming in with a lot of confidence and momentum after knocking out the no. 1 seed," said Cone in the PBA website.
NorthPort has become a formidable force, thanks to Christian Standhardinger, Sean Anthony, and import Michael Qualls.
A plus for Cone is having his wards Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio, Stanley Pringle, and Greg Slaughter with him in Gilas’ SEA Games campaign.
"Those players who participated in the SEA Games are pumped up to get the semis going," said Cone.
