MANILA - Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone is thinking of canceling the national team's practice on Monday evening at the Meralco Gym.

This, as the TNT KaTropa are coming off an out of town game, while also preparing for a crucial contest against San Miguel Beer on Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup.

Cone has two TNT players in the Gilas pool in Troy Rosario and RR Pogoy, and three SMB players in June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, and Chris Ross.

"I'm not sure what we can get done in one practice," said Cone, who added that as of the moment, there is a "60-40" probability that they will cancel tomorrow's training session.

Having one fewer practice for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games is "always a concern," admitted Cone, but he is also not too keen on practicing when he knows that he won't be able to maximize his players.

"Their focus is somewhere else, their energy is being reserved for something else," he said.

Moreover, a scheduled tune-up game against a visiting Taiwan team had been canceled after two of their players suffered injuries.

"That's one of the reasons. If we're not gonna play, we might as well let the guys really rest and get ready, get through the quarters so that they can put their total focus on Gilas and the SEA Games," said Cone.

If Cone does decide to cancel tomorrow's practice, the team will next meet up on November 28 -- which will be the start of their daily practices.

"We might get more value out of that," said Cone.

"It's always a difficult situation. You make the best you can out of it, and I trust the guys, I trust our players that when the time comes, they'll be ready," he also said. "They got a feel for our offense, and we just gotta create better habits for our defense."
