Mark Caguioa reached a PBA milestone at Araneta Coliseum on Friday night, scoring 10,000 career points, just the 15th player in league history to do so.
The Barangay Ginebra shooting guard entered the game against NLEX needing 16 points to accomplish the feat.
He took an assist from Scottie Thompson, who was navigating the baseline before spotting Caguioa with a bounce pass.
Caguioa nailed the 15-foot elbow jumper WITH 1:10 left in the game, a shot he has been known to consistently make during his 16-year PBA career.
His basket got his teammates on the bench jumping in celebration and the crowd erupting with cheers and applause.
He ran back past midcourt looking and pointing upward before breaking into a smile.
Ginebra came away with the win 106-92.
Caguioa said he didn't enter the game thinking much of the milestone.
"Mahirap na isipin iyong isipin mo iyong kunin mo iyong 10,000 points. Just let the game come to you pero noong huli rin parang hinabol ko rin so medyo naasar sa akin si coach Tim (Cone) ng kaunti," Caguio said with a smile in the post-game TV interview.
