San Miguel Beer opened its quest for a Grand Slam by lording it over Phoenix Pulse 130-119 in the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Denzel Wells looked unstoppable registering 42 points and 8 rebounds, while Alex Cabagnot fired 23 points, 5 boards and 3 assists.

The Beermen went all out since the opening buzzer to build a 70-55 halftime lead over the Fuel Masters.

The gap widened to as many as 26 points before Phoenix started hitting its shots.

Eugene Phelps had 41 points, but this wasn't enough to save the Fuel Masters from their second straight defeat.

Phelps also tallied 20 rebounds and 6 assists.

In the first game, TNT routed Blackwater 135-107.

Not even Ray Parks' 39 points could stop the KaTropa, who got huge numbers from KJ McDaniels.

McDaniels scored 41 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to for TNT's first win.

Blackwater's Marcus Blakely was limited to just 4 points.
