MANILA, Philippines -- The NLEX Road Warriors will shore up their frontline as they welcome Mike Miranda back to the squad.
NLEX announced on Tuesday that the PBA had approved a trade with NorthPort that will bring Miranda back to the franchise, in exchange for guard Juami Tiongson.
Miranda played for NLEX from 2017 to 2018, but was sent to TNT before landing in NorthPort.
"It so happened that Mike was available. Since Mike came from our team before and knows my system, he became a natural consideration," NLEX coach Yeng Guiao said of the trade.
Guiao admitted that they did not want to give up Tiongson, who became an integral part of NLEX's rotation last year following Kiefer Ravena's FIBA suspension.
The Road Warriors offered second-round picks, but NorthPort "insisted on Juami."
"The mere fact that they insisted that he be part of the trade proves how much he has grown. He had actually just been granted a contract renewal with NLEX before the trade, which is an indication that he’s going to be in the league for a while," Guiao said of the former Ateneo guard.
"He has earned it. We’re happy to have been part of his improvement and his development in his career. I wish Juami the best and hope he plays well," he added.
