PSL: Petron dismisses woeful Marinera for 11th win

MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion Petron dismantled winless Marinerang Pilipina in straight sets, 25-12, 25-17, 25-9, in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference Tuesday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.

Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons starred as the Blaze Spikers dismissed the Lady Skippers in just 78 minutes for their 11th win in 12 games.

Rondina delivered a game-high 13 points off seven attacks, four service aces and two blocks, while Pons had 11 attacks on top of 14 digs.

Setter Rhea Dimaculangan dished out 21 excellent sets, while Ces Molina and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas had seven and six points, respectively, for Petron, which also drew impressive game from Mika Reyes and Mela Tunay.

Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos had the luxury to field all of his 14 players as they earned their ninth straight win before facing unbeaten leader F2 Logistics (11-0) on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

"I'm happy that all my players delivered," said delos Santos. "Fielding all of them was part of the game plan and as I told them to get ready, they played well-prepared."

The Blaze Spikers torched the Lady Skippers with 44 kills, had a 7-2 advance in aces, and tallied 7 kill blocks. Marinerang Pilipina failed to register a single block in the game and had only 18 attack points.

No Lady Skipper reached double digits, with Dimdim Pacres scoring 9 points.

This was their 13th consecutive defeat.
