A possible Manny Pacquiao-Terence Crawford bout could turn out to be a highly entertaining matchup if it pushes through, according to a veteran boxing analyst.

"Crawford is a great counter-puncher and a thorough finisher. He is economical with his shots, but makes every one count. You make a mistake, he will make you pay dearly," said Ed Tolentino.

"He offers youth, confidence. He is the hungrier fighter, having been ignored in the welterweight division."

Tolentino said it will serve as the toughest challenge for Pacquiao at this point, especially now that Pacquiao is at the tail end of his boxing career.

"It's a match up that guarantees a hellacious outcome. The ultimate test to determine if Pacquiao still has enough fight mojo left in him," said Tolentino.

Crawford has been pursuing Pacquiao for the past few years now.

Bob Arum of Top Rank, which used to promote Pacquiao, has already said that he was working on the bout before the coronavirus outbreak brought all sporting events to a halt.

But fight analyst Dennis Principe said he believes Pacquiao does not need someone such as Crawford.

"I don't think Crawford has done enough para ma-consider siya sa equation," he said. "Right now, Manny is more into taking on marketable fighters for him, someone willing to get into a phone booth war."

A Pacquiao-Crawford bout is not exactly an easy sell, said Principe.

"For a tactical fighter like Crawford and being an American parang mahirap mabenta ang Pacquiao-Crawford at the moment," he added.
