The PBA held off its plans for a grand celebration, as the league turned 45 years old on Thursday, April 9.
The country is currently facing a crisis like the rest of the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the PBA had to tone down its celebration for public safety.
"Sayang ang dami na nating nakalatag na programa tsaka mga pakulo dahil nga 45th year ng PBA," PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said in an article posted on the league's official website.
Marcial acknowledged that the pandemic has forced the league to go through its most trying period in its history.
The league was supposed to hold the grand celebration on Easter Sunday, April 12, with a doubleheader between Columbian Dyip and Blackwater, and defending champion San Miguel Beer against Barangay Ginebra at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
