MANILA -- Lockdown Games, an online fundraising tournament, continued to gain support in its effort to contribute to the fight against COVID-19.
The Lockdown Games has become an opportunity for gamers and fans alike to showcase their skills at different popular titles, such as Marvel Super War, Call of Duty Mobile, Dota 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, while contributing to the battle against the novel coronavirus.
Included in the lineup is the much-awaited Dota 2 Showmatch on April 6, where PBA superstars Junmar Fajardo, Marc Pingris, Japeth Aguilar, and Kiefer Ravena will go head to head in the virtual arena.
The games have so far collected P460,000 and is steadily working toward its P1-million goal.
Donations raised from the tournament will go to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Medical Foundation as a form of aid to the medical frontliners.
The tournament is organized by Mineski Global, the largest esports organization in Southeast Asia.
Brands who have found their entry into esports through Mineski Global include Mountain Dew, Enervon Activ, Tostas, ASUS Republic of Gamers, and Good Game Digital.
“I am humbly calling our entire community, especially those who will take part in the Lockdown Games and our partners, to lend us their hand in what we think is the bigger battle: that of providing immediate help to our friends in the health sector who are manning the frontlines against this pandemic through your donations,” said
Mineski Global CEO and founder Ronald Robins.
Gamers, Mineski Global’s partner brands, and members of the esports community have supported the tournament since it kicked off last March 24 with Marvel Superwar.
After Call of Duty Mobile on April 1-3, there will be a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang contest happening from April 7-9. Fans can tune in at MineskiTV’s Facebook channel to watch these matches and support their favorite teams.
“We are thankful for the generosity and kindness of the esports community to the Philippine General Hospital. Your donation will go a long way in empowering our frontliners against COVID-19,” said Dr. Jonas Del Rosario, spokesperson and public affairs coordinator of the PGH.
Interested parties may donate any amount until the end of the event, April 13, via an email pledge sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, via text at 09272798615, or through Mineski Global’s GCash, via 09178747768.
