Two massive explosions rocked the Lebanese capital on Tuesday causing huge plumes and damaging shockwaves ripping structures surrounding the Beirut Port.

Hundreds are reported wounded and several killed, according to the Lebanese Red Cross, as people continue to bring those injured to nearby hospitals.

Lebanon’s General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim said that the explosion could have been caused by highly explosive materials confiscated years ago and stored at the city's port.

Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab declared Wednesday, August 5, as national day of mourning following the massive explosion that hit Beirut.

Here are select images of the aftermath of the blast.
