MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs said it has repatriated distressed Filipinos from Mexico, Egypt and Morocco, in coordination with Philippine officials in said countries.
In a statement, DFA said it coordinated with the Philippine Embassies in Mexico City, Cairo, and in Tripoli to successfully repatriate a total of 32 distressed Filipinos.
The Filipinos, some of whom were either detained, figured in an accident or were victims of human trafficking abroad, arrived in Manila Tuesday night.
Of the 32 Filipinos, 19 are wrongfully detained Filipino seafarers from Mexico and 11 are Filipinos who figured in a vehicular accident in Dahab, Egypt.
Also included in the late-night arrival were two overseas Filipino workers who were illegally deployed and trafficked in Morocco as household service workers.
