World’s tallest bamboo sculpture is in Pangasinan

The statue of Saint Vincent Ferrer stands in the middle of a prayer park in Barangay Bani in Bayambang, Pangasinan in this photo taken on Thursday. The 50.23-meter (official height) statue, which is made from steel and engineered bamboo, was officially declared by the Guinness World Records as the tallest supported bamboo structure last April 5, 2019. Homo Luzonensis

Professor Armand Mijares illustrates the similarities of the bones from the foot of the Homo Luzonensis during a press briefing at the University of the Philippines Science Auditorium on Thursday. Mijares' team discovered "Homo Luzonensis," small-bodied hominin that lived on the island of Luzon at least 50,000 to 67,000 years ago.
