MANILA- "All politics is local."

This is how Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos described the looming political showdown between her family and that of Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas.

The 67-year-old Fariñas is running for governor in his home province against Marcos' son, incumbent board member Matthew Marcos Manotoc. Imee, meanwhile, is running for senator next year.

"All politics is local talaga eh. Siguro gusto maghari-harian sa Ilocos Norte," Imee said on DZMM's "Ikaw Na Ba?" senatorial election interview Thursday.

(Maybe he wants to play king in Ilocos Norte.)

Fariñas was known to have initiated last year a legislative investigation into the Ilocos Norte capitol's acquisition of vehicles without public bidding.

Imee added that her family would leave it to the people to decide who they want for governor.

"Sa amin namin hindi naman namin pag-aari ang Ilocos Norte, kung sino ang iboboto ng taumbayan edi yun na lamang," she said.

(We don't own Ilocos Norte so whoever the people vote for, we'll accept it.)
