MANILA - An irate President Rodrigo Duterte slammed Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday over her brief stint in his drug war, saying she only made an "a***ole" of herself.

The President criticized Robredo's actions during her 18 days as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) from which he fired her last Sunday. It was Duterte who gave Robredo the assignment.

"She made an a***ole of herself," Duterte said.

Robredo, who had criticized Duterte's drug war, said she would give a report on what she discovered about the campaign after the President sacked her.

"Kahit tinanggalan ako ng posisyon, hinding-hindi nila kayang tanggalin ang aking determinasyon — determinasyong itigil ang patayan, determinasyong panagutin ang kailangan managot at ipanalo ang kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga," she said last Monday.

(Even if I was stripped of position, they cannot take away my determination — determination to stop the killings, hold accountable those who were responsible and win the fight against illegal drugs.)

"Kung sa tingin nila matatapos ito dito, hindi nila ako kilala. Nagsisimula pa lang ako," she added.

(If they think it ends here, they don't know me. I've only just begun.)

Robredo has yet to release her report.

"You (Robredo) seem to be threatening na may information ka (that you have information). Ilabas mo (Release it)," Duterte said.

Duterte and Robredo have had a frosty relationship as they are often at odds over policies.

When reached for comment, Robredo's office said it has no statement for now.
