Two men allegedly involved in the killing of Bien Unido town, Bohol Mayor Gisela Boniel were arrested in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Thursday.
Police said Allan delos Reyes and Lobo Boniel were arrested after two years of hiding, after an arrest warrant was issued against them on August 23, 2017.
Guns, ammunition, and a shirt belonging to a policeman were recovered from the suspects. Police said they are looking into the possible involvement of a policeman in the suspects' hiding.
Lobo is the cousin of former Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel, the prime suspect in the killing of his wife.
Niño allegedly shot dead his wife while on board a boat off Caubian Island in Cebu on June 8, 2017. The body was then allegedly thrown overboard, said witness Roilito Boniel, another cousin of Niño.
Police said the suspects, who were listed in the "top 10" most wanted persons in Central Visayas, were in the boat when the body was dumped into the water.
The suspects refused to comment on the charges against them. - Report from Leleth Ann Rumaguera, ABS-CBN News
