MANILA - Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan on Tuesday said it was up to his wife, actress and singer Sharon Cuneta, if she wants to endorse Otso Diretso, where he is campaign manager.
"I leave that to her to decide," Pangilinan said on ANC's Headstart on Tuesday.
Pangilinan, president of the opposition Liberal Party, admitted that he and his wife have yet to really discuss it. He said his wife had been very busy with her concert tour in Canada and the United States. She also spent three weeks shooting in Baguio City, he said.
"Halos hindi na rin kami nagkikita (We have not been seeing each other)," he said. He said the break the family took recently was the "first time we've been together."
The Megastar has repeatedly expressed her admiration for President Rodrigo Duterte. Last year, she had dinner with the President in Malacañang.
"I love my wife because she is her own person,” he said.
Like many Filipino families, Pangilinan said they also have opposing political views.
“Unfortunately, of course in the country, many families are divided on what is happening to the country and our family is no exception," he said.
He added: "I wish it were otherwise. But that is the reality, we just have to manage and deal with it."
Duterte has repeatedly slammed Pangilinan's Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, which sets the minimum age of criminal liability to 15. The President wants it lowered.
