The Pasig City Children’s Hospital (PCCH) has been identified as a facility where "moderate" cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) may be treated, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Sunday.

The conversion of the PCCH into a COVID-19 treatment facility is the product of a public-private partnership between The Medical City and the Pasig local government, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a press briefing.

The Medical City chief executive officer Eugene Ramos said the PCCH, which has a 63-bed capacity, will treat moderate cases of COVID-19.

Mild cases may be sent to other hospitals around Pasig while The Medical City will serve as an acute care center for severe COVID-19 cases, said Ramos.

Ramos said the pediatrics staff of the PCCH will be transferred to other hospitals for non-COVID cases while medical frontliners from other Pasig health facilities will be brought to the PCCH.

As of Friday, Pasig has recorded 105 positive cases of COVID-19 in the city, with 13 recoveries and 15 deaths.
