QUEZON CITY – Two more Maguindanao massacre suspects who were recently arrested pleaded “not guilty" to multiple murder charges against them before a Quezon City court.

PO1 Alfie Pagabangan alias PO1 Suari Esmail Pagabangan and PO1 Ysmael Baraquir alias PO1 Ysmael Baraguir appeared before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Friday afternoon for their arraignment, where they both maintained innocence.

Pagabangan was arrested on January 28 at his safehouse at the boundary of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat and Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao while Baraquir surrendered on January 21 before the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Pagalungan, Maguindanao.

Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes this week ordered their transfer to the Quezon City Jail-Annex in Camp Bagong Diwa while they undergo trial.

Pagabangan and Baraquir will face trial with two other suspects, Kagi Faizal alias Faizal Baga Dimaukom and Gambayan Kasim alias Lori Alip, who earlier pleaded “not guilty” to the multiple murder charge on January 21.

Trial is set to begin on February 7 at 8:30AM.

The four are part of the 80 suspects who remained at large when the verdict on the Maguindanao massacre trial was rendered on December 19 last year.

Twenty-eight accused, including 5 Ampatuan prime suspects, were sentenced to reclusion perpetua or up to 40 years in prison while 15 others were convicted as accessories and sentenced to up to 10 years and 8 months in jail, over the brutal killing of 57 victims.

Fifty-six other accused meanwhile were acquitted.
