MANILA – Shortly after Catriona Gray was crowned Miss Universe 2018, several netizens were quick to note that her gown – along with the country’s three other titleholders – supposedly make up the colors of the Philippine flag.

Gray sizzled in a red “lava dress” by Mak Tumang.

Pia Wurtzbach, who won in 2015, stunned in a blue mermaid gown by Albert Andrada.

Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran was a vision in white.

The country’s 1969 titleholder, Gloria Diaz, seemingly looked radiant in a yellow dress.

Filipino pageant fans were quick to compile photos of the four Miss Universe winners, saying that the “Philippine flag” is finally “complete.”

Diaz was quick to clarify, however, that she wore a white dress – not yellow – when she won Miss Universe.

“I recall wearing white,” she said in a phone interview with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual on Monday, when asked to react to the so-called “Philippine flag” created by the country’s Miss Universe titleholders.

The last Filipina to wear a yellow gown in the Miss Universe pageant is Ariella Arida, who competed in 2013.

She finished as third runner-up.
