MANILA — With only days before she crowns her successor, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray released Thursday a detailed
retrospective of her reign over the past year, titled “Maranasan.”
In the 8-minute video, Gray narrates the moments after her coronation in Bangkok, Thailand until the tail-end of her stint as Miss Universe.
She shows glimpses of her media tours and pageant duties, as well as her activities related to various causes, from education for underprivileged children, to medical aid, and HIV/AIDS awareness.
Her homecoming in the Philippines, moving to New York, and travels to various countries are also highlighted in the video.
“I want to be remembered as the queen who serves, to be seen as using this opportunity and platform to pursue my purpose as an advocate and a voice to not just 104 [million] Filipinos, but to the whole universe,” she says.
Gray, the 4th Filipina Miss Universe, will pass her crown to a new queen on December 8 in Atlanta, Georgia, or December 9, 8 a.m. Manila time.
The Philippines’ 2019 bet, Gazini Ganados, is hoping to claim a back-to-back win for the country. If she manages the feat, the Philippines will become only the second country to do so, after the 2008-2009 wins of Venezuela.
