MANILA -- Veteran beauty expert Ricky Reyes believes Gazini Ganados has a strong chance of scoring a back-to-back triumph for the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2019 coronation this Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia (US time).

According to Reyes, Gazini is already a winner in looks alone.

"Nakakatuwa si Gazini. Itsura pa lang niya, mannequin na... Malakas ang dating. Tapos noong lumabas siya na naka-fuschia, oh my God. Sabi ko, 'Wala na, winner na itong babaeng 'to,'" he said.

"Ibang klase, di ba?" he went on. "Para bang, 'I'm here to win.'"

Ganados has emerged as one of the top 5 favorite candidates to win in the pageant, based on online surveys among pageant enthusiasts.

Reyes also lauded Ganados' advocacy for the care of senior citizens.

"Nakakatuwa ang kanyang advocacy for the elderly, napalaking bagay niyan kasi bihira ang nag-aalaga ng matatanda. In fact magtatayo ako ng retirement club for the older people," said Reyes, who has a similar advocacy.

"It's hard, hindi biro ang mag-alaga ng matanda. Taking care of older people is very, very expensive. Sa isang araw lang kailangan mo ng therapist, kailangan mo ng doktor, kailangan mo ng gamot... And for her to find the initiative to do this, saludo ako sa kanya. Ibang klase 'yon," he added.

A seasoned beauty trendsetter, Reyes was interviewed at the sidelines of the Quezon City launch of the charity bazaar of Childhaus, a halfway house he supports for children with cancer and their families.

Reyes thanked business mogul Hans Sy for supporting Childhaus through the years.

Along with actress Angel Locsin, Sy was named by Forbes Asia as one of 30 heroes of philanthropy in the region. Sy spent around $2 million in 2015 to buy a Manila lot and build a facility for cancer-stricken patients.

The facility is also supported by singer Karylle, various beauty queens, and other celebrities.
