A lineup of 30 ladies vied for grand titles at the coronation night of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 held at Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila on Friday.
Ilene Astrid de Vera from Cebu was crowned this year's Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International at the coronation night of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 held at Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila on Friday.
During the question-and-answer portion of the pageant, Johnny Litton, who was the chairman of the panel of judges, asked de Vera: “If someday, you’re lucky enough for a producer to make a movie version of your life, what would you choose as the title and who would you like to portray your life?”
To which, de Vera answered: “I would like to name it ‘Single Mom’s Child’ and I would like to have myself portray it because my mother was my inspiration in everything that I did. I’m just so happy she raised me well as a person. I’m very happy to be here standing right now, to show her how proud I am too.”
Meanwhile, Jannie Loudete Alipo-on from Navotas won Mutya ng Pilipinas—Tourism International.
During the question-and answer, Col. Ricardo Nolasco Jr. asked her: “How can you encourage or convince your friends abroad to visit our country despite the problems now in Mindanao?”
For her answer, Alipo-on said: “I will promote Mutya ng Pilipinas in spite of having war in Mindanao by making travel blogs and showing how beautiful, how natural the scenic spots are here in the Philippines. I will use my social media since they are in another country. I will use my social media to communicate with them because social media is the most powerful in today’s society.”
