MANILA -- The ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) is set to bring a new viewing experience to its audience with the launch of ANC-X, its new lifestyle block on Tuesday.

This marks the 24-hour global news channel's collaboration with ABS-CBN's lifestyle arm, said ABS-CBN Senior Vice President for News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes.

"While we specialize in serious undertakings like general news, government and business, and wall-to-wall political coverage, we also know that our audience wants a break from all that serious stuff," said Reyes. "They seek adventure, they have a sense of fun. And they love food, fashion, and the arts."

ANC-X will air at 10:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 p.m. on weekends.

EXCITING, INSIGHTFUL

According to Paolo Pineda, the head of ABS-CBN's Lifestyle Ecosystem, ANC-X aims to cater to the "after-office and weekend passions" of modern viewers, and will offer insightful fare featuring award-winning Filipino celebrities.

Actress Iza Calzado will host the five-episode show "State of the Art," which will document the country's growing art industry.

Veteran singer Martin Nievera, meanwhile, will host "LSS with Martin Nievera," which aims to compress long stories into short, consumable content.

Nievera said his show will be a medley of "everything exciting" --from skydiving to unraveling the life of a superstar.

"There will be singing segments as well," he added.

ANC-X will also air "Show Me the Market," which will take viewers to wet markets in different provinces across the country -- the best places to source local produce for inventive dishes.

There will also be two foreign programs focusing on travel, culture, and fine liquor.

"The Wine Show" will feature the adventures of two celebrity hosts as they travel across Europe sampling an array of wines, while "Booze Traveler" will feature the different traditions associated with alcohol and drinking.

ANC, billed as the Philippines' first 24-hour global cable news channel, has built a strong reputation for its hard-hitting reports on some of the country's most pressing issues.

Beyond politics, business, and crime reports, ANC also airs relevant documentaries, such as "Local Legends" which recently bagged a silver medal from the prestigious New York Festivals.
