MANILA -- Smile Train Philippines is holding a series of virtual speech therapy classes for cleft patients amid the enhanced community quarantine.

Speech Camp 2020 initially runs from April 1 to 8 on Facebook, featuring local experts such as speech language pathologist Veronica Yu from University of Santo Tomas, and the College of Rehabilitation Sciences of De La Salle University Health Sciences Institute.

Smile Train Philippines said it hopes to hold more classes for cleft patients in the coming weeks.

"Speech Camp 2020 is an initiative to enable our patients to continue their learning and speech sessions throughout the ECQ," Smile Train Southeast Asia director Kimmy Flaviano said in a statement.

"We hope that this will also serve as an opportunity for other patients who are unable to physically attend sessions during the year."

Smile Train is an international children's charity that supports free cleft surgery and comprehensive cleft care.

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is among its global ambassadors.
