Katrina Llegado has nothing but gratitude for being given the opportunity to represent the Philippines in an international pageant.
Llegado finished in the Top 5 of Reina Hispanoamericana 2019, which was held in Bolivia on Sunday.
“Maraming salamat, Filipinas! It is an honor representing our country. I couldn’t be more proud shouting ‘Filipinas’ knowing millions of Filipinos [are] all fighting right behind me!” she said Monday in an Instagram post, which showed her holding the Philippine flag.
“Our journey to Reina Hispanoamericana might have come to its end, but I’ll forever be grateful for this experience,” she added.
Llegado also had a message for Mexico’s Regina Peredo Gutierrez, who was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2019.
“My roommate and literally my sister from Mexico, you did amazing and I am so happy and excited for your beautiful reign,” she said, tagging the Mexican beauty queen’s Instagram account.
Originally scheduled in October last year, the Reina Hispanoamericana 2019 pageant was put off because of election-related violence in the host country.
It was in 2017 when the Philippines first joined Reina Hispanoamericana, a Latina-dominated pageant.
The country’s representative that year, actress Wynwyn Marquez, bagged the crown.
