MANILA – ABS-CBN has launched its public service campaign in a call to unite the nation in helping all Filipinos affected by the recent eruption and continuous activity of Taal Volcano.
The campaign, called "Tulong-Tulong sa Taal," brings together the efforts of the network from relief operations to delivery in evacuation centers through the help of employees, artists, programs, and subsidiaries.
Disaster preparedness tips will also be aired on television and radio as part the campaign.
As of January 24 (Friday), 17,016 families or 85,080 individuals have received relief packs; 5,403 people have enjoyed hot meals from the soup kitchen; and 663 individuals have been given psychological services in over a hundred evacuation centers through ABS-CBN Foundation’s humanitarian assistance arm.
Meanwhile, the network has also kicked off its "Serbisyo at Saya" caravans. ABS-CBN will visit different evacuation centers to offer medical missions, fun activities, and other useful services to help ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of displaced individuals.
During the caravans, evacuees who are suffering from ailments and psychological trauma caused by the Taal eruption and the living conditions in evacuation centers will receive free medical advice, treatment, and medicine.
ABS-CBN will also be giving away free reading glasses, hygiene and laundry kits to ease the burden of the people in evacuation centers. There will also be a Tulong Center help desk to assist citizens.
Volunteer employees, including artists, will personally visit and cheer evacuees up through games and soup kitchen, as well as storytelling, and arts and crafts sessions for children.
Adult evacuees may get news updates, while children get to catch up on lessons as SKYcable and Knowledge Channel will set up free viewing stations on select evacuation centers.
Recently, programs "Salamat Dok" and "My Puhunan" conducted public service events in evacuation centers, while Kapamilya stars have organized their own fund-raisers and distribution of relief goods to help Taal victims.
As ABS-CBN aims to be with Kapamilyas every step of the way, the network will also be launching several other efforts under the #TulongTulongSaTaal umbrella campaign in the days and weeks to come where the public can participate in projects for Taal evacuees.
This includes the "Ligtas Bag" drive where people can donate or help pack emergency "go-bags" for evacuees.
ABS-CBN Foundation is still accepting in-kind and cash donations for Taal evacuees. For more details, follow ABS-CBN Foundation on Facebook.
