LONDON – Miss World 2019 Philippine bet Michelle Marquez Dee aims to make her country proud by showing her true self and contributing to the Beauty with a Purpose mantra of the competition, set to be held Saturday here.
“Win or lose, just being here is a blessing in itself,” Dee said whose advocacy is to promote autism awareness.
In an exclusive peek into the final dress rehearsal of the Miss World 2019 coronation, ABS-CBN News had a rare access to the more than 100 beauties vying for the crown, including Dee.
The 23-year-old stunner exuded confidence and natural charm. She is one of the strongest contenders after securing a spot in the top 40.
Just 24 hours before the finals and coronation night, she appeared relaxed but was determined to give her best.
“If it’s meant for me, it will come to me,” said Dee of winning the coveted crown. “I believe in destiny. I believe in trying my best and hopefully my best is good enough.”
Coming from a privileged background and from a family of beauty queens--her mother is Miss International Melanie Marquez and her cousin Teresita Sen Marquez was crowned the first Reina Hispanoamericana in 2017--Dee faces the pressure of winning a crown for herself. But she said she wants to make her own mark.
“My mom, the most important advice she gave me is to be myself. I am not trying to be the second Melanie Marquez or the next Winwyn Marquez. I just want to be my own woman,” said Dee.
Miss World 2019 will be held in Excel London.
