MANILA -- Toni and Alex Gonzaga portray sisters whose relationship is threatened to be ripped apart by a rivalry over one man — one sister’s ex, and the other’s future husband — in the romance-comedy “Mary, Marry Me.”
In the trailer of the RC delos Reyes film, which marks the big-screen team-up of the real-life sisters, Mary Jane (Toni) and Mary Anne (Alex) reunite after the latter returned from overseas.
Mary Anne’s homecoming is in time for her wedding with Pete (Sam Milby), for which she enlists the help of her sister, a professional wedding planner, to orchestrate the big event.
Mary Jane and Peter, however, turned out to have a romantic past — which the sisters acknowledge and do not seem to mind at first, but eventually becomes the cause of friction.
The conflict blows up when Mary Anne finally tells her sister to not “steal” her fiancé. Hairpulling also ensues at one point, as seen in the trailer released on Monday.
“Mary, Marry Me” is one of the eight entries in the main section of the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival, which kicks off on Christmas Day.
It is produced by Ten17P and TinCan, and also stars Melai Cantiveros, Moi Bien, and Bayani Agbayani.
