MANILA — "Hello, Stranger" stars Tony Labrusca and JC Alcantara are "amazed" by the international support for the series, having drawn fans from as far as Brazil and the UK.
Two weeks since its premiere via producer Black Sheep's online channels, the boys' love (BL) series has become a favorite among the so-called YouTube "react" community, aside from being a consistent trending topic on Twitter.
"Tuwang-tuwa talaga ako sa mga reaction videos," Labrusca said after he and his fellow cast members were shown snippets of the videos.
"Natuwa ako sa kanila, sobrang cute nila. Naaaliw talaga ako sa mga international fans natin. Hindi ako makapaniwala na umabot na tayo sa Brazil, America, London."
The digital series comes with a wave of BL productions in the Philippines, alongside the likes of "Game Boys" and "Gaya sa Pelikula," following the massive success of the Thai series "2gether" among Filipino viewers.
Each "Hello, Stranger" that's been released so far has registered more than 1 million views across Facebook and YouTube.
"Ganiyan kalakas ang BL community, tapos lahat sila, sama-sama, tight-knit community. Na-amaze lang ako," Labrusca said.
Alcantara agreed, saying: "Nakaka-overwhelm din kasi kahit sa ibang bansa, napapanood nila tayo. Pinanonood talaga nila, tapos 'yung mga reaction nila, nakaka-good vibes. Sobrang salamat sa kanila."
