MANILA — Music icon Sharon Cuneta has released her own version of "Kapamilya Forever," the new ABS-CBN anthem amid the network's forced broadcast halt and challenges to its franchise renewal.
Released on Sunday, the music video for Cuneta's "Kapamilya Forever" shows the singer performing in her home amid the coronavirus lockdown, intercut with scenes from ABS-CBN's decades of public service, from calamity response, conservation of the environment, to children's welfare, among others.
Those efforts include the ongoing "Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig," a relief program that has reached thousands of Filipinos amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Cuneta's version also shows hundreds of ABS-CBN employees, whose livelihood have been put at risk because of uncertainties surrounding the network's broadcast franchise.
Cuneta has been one of the most vocal supporters of ABS-CBN after the government shutdown of its TV and radio operations, and has taken part in the campaigns #LabanKapamilya and #IbalikAngABSCBN.
Cuneta, dubbed local showbiz's "Megastar," has been a Kapamilya for a greater part of her 42-year career. Milestones of her personal life also unfolded on ABS-CBN, from her heartbreaks, marriage, to becoming a mother.
A previous version of "Kapamilya Forever" features an all-star rendition, with the likes of Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Piolo Pascual, Ogie Alcasid, Bamboo, and apl.de.ap lending their voices.
"Kapamilya Forever" speaks of the unwavering commitment of ABS-CBN to being in the service of Filipinos through any challenges.
The song was written by Robert Labayen, Patrick de Leon and Lloyd Corpuz, and produced by Thyro Alfaro and Tiny Corpuz.
