MANILA – A first look at Daniel Padilla and Charo Santos-Concio’s upcoming movie has been released.
On Sunday, ABS-CBN AdProm Head Eric John Salut shared photos of the two while on the set of “Whether the Weather is Fine” in downtown Tacloban.
Slated to be released this year, the movie is about the aftermath of the devastating typhoon Yolanda that hit the country in November 2013.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News early this month, Padilla said his experience while shooting the film is incomparable to any he has done in the past.
“It’s really different. It’s something new para sa akin. New production din kasi it’s not really from ABS-CBN or Star Cinema. Iba rin 'yung karga, iba 'yung bato ng pelikula, iba 'yung feel. Very exciting,” he said.
On working with Santos-Concio, Padilla said: “Ang sarap katrabaho ni Ma’am Charo dahil napakahusay na aktor. Kapag may katrabaho kang magaling na aktor, ang sarap magbato ng eksena. Nagtutulungan kayo. I am very thankful, blessed and very humbled na nakatrabaho ko si Ma’am Charo.”
"Whether the Weather is Fine" is directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, whose short film, "Jodilerks Dela Cruz, Employee of the Month," competed in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2017.
Manatad was born in Tacloban, one of the hardest-hit areas by supertyphoon Yolanda.
The film will also star new actress Francinne Rifol, also known as Rans, from all-Pinay girl group MNL48.
The official synopsis for it reads: "Against the backdrop of the typhoon Yolanda, a mother (Santos) and her son (Padilla) struggle for survival and deal with absurdity of fate, sustained by the hope that they carry, and what is lost and gained."
