Urged by fans to “fix” her relationship with Carlo Aquino, Angelica Panganiban instead declared on Friday that she will no longer speak of her former boyfriend and co-star, whom she had been openly affectionate towards in recent months.

Panganiban, 32, said early this week that “negativity” from followers ruined her relationship with Aquino, 33, after one fan censured her over her cryptic posts about love that have supposedly made the actor vulnerable to judgment.

“Maayos naman samahan namin. Sinira niyo lang. Sana masaya na kayo,” she tweeted on Wednesday, shortly before she un-followed Aquino on Instagram.

“Sana din matuwa idol niyo sa pag-iwas ko sa kanya at malagay siya sa tahimik. Ako pala kasi sumisira sa idol ninyo. Enjoy 2019.”

In subsequent posts on Twitter on Thursday and Friday, Panganiban once again addressed her followers, saying her decision to distance herself from Aquino is for the good of everyone involved.

“Saan ba ako nagkulang? Pinapasok ko naman kayo sa buhay ko. Bakit kayo nananakit?” she wrote. “Didistansya lang naman. Nababahiran na kasi ng ka-showbizan. Para sa ikakabuti na din ng lahat.”

She then tweeted, referring to being the target of criticisms over her relationship with Aquino: “Anong pinagkaiba ng bullies sa bashers? Gusto ko malaman. Para makatulog na ‘ko... May trabaho na ‘ko in a while eh...”

Panganiban’s emotional tweets drew encouraging words from hundreds of fans, among them one who said she respected her decision and another who advised the actress to “follow your heart and do what’s best for you.”

“Salamat,” Panganiban replied. “Salamat sa lakas ng loob sa panahong kinakailangan. Tao lang din ako. May pangangailangan din. Kaya. Salamat.”

A close friend, volleyball player Jamenea Ferrer, gave brief but meaningful words that admittedly had Panganiban crying. “Love you,” Ferrer said, to which Panganiban responded: “Naiyak ako. Needed that. Love you po.”

Answering one “Cargel” fan who expressed hope of a reconciliation between her idols, Panganiban said, “Walang aayusin sa ’min.”

“Wala na kayong maririnig from now on tungkol sa ’min. Magdadamot na ‘ko,” she added.

Panganiban and Aquino were each other’s first official relationship when they were teenagers. They managed to become friends despite going through two breakups, and in 2018, courted a fresh following when they reunited onscreen in the romance-drama film “Exes Baggage.”

The movie, a box-office and critical success, spurred new demand from self-proclaimed “Cargel” fans for further projects featuring the former sweethearts, leading to Aquino’s additional casting in “Playhouse.”

Some fans, however, have gone further to ask the two to get back together, with their hopes bolstered by recent affectionate photos of the former couple.

This, despite Panganiban and Aquino saying the are better off as friends, and the latter clarifying in September 2018 that he was not courting his ex-girlfriend anew.
