MANILA - Energy Development Corp said Tuesday typhoon Urduja (international name: Kai-tak) damaged pipelines of its geothermal plants in Leyte, nearly halving production.
As of Monday evening, the plants were producing P246 megawatts, from 462 megawatts before the typhoon hit, EDC told the stock exchange.
“We are working to restore the facilities at the soonest time possible, with priority consideration on safety,” EDC said.
EDC said it was assisting affected communities.
Urduja swept through the Visayas over the weekend, causing floods and landslides that left at least 41 people killed and 45 others missing.
