MANILA -- San Miguel Corp said Monday it proposed to the government the construction of an elevated expressway along EDSA to help ease traffic congestion in the Philippine capital's main highway.
The proposal was submitted to the Department of Transportation for its consideration, San Miguel told the stock exchange, confirming a report on the Philippine Star.
San Miguel could spend at least $3 billion (P151.8 billion) for the toll road, which could stretch from Macapagal Avenue in the south to Balintawak or Samson Road in the north, according to the disclosure.
The conglomerate also proposed to build a new airport in Bulacan to help ease congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It is also building the MRT-7, which will connect the capital's northern suburbs to Bulacan province.
