MANILA – The government is set to announce a revised list of flagship projects under President Rodrigo Duterte's "Build, Build, Build" program to reflect "game-changing" plans for the economy, one of his advisers said Tuesday.
The P8-trillion infrastructure plan, also dubbed "Dutertenomics" includes 75 projects including Metro Manila's first ever subway.
San Miguel’s proposed airport project in Bulacan, meant to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, will be part of the list, Presidential Adviser on Flagship Projects and Programs Vince Dizon told ANC’s The Boss.
Dizon is also president and CEO of the Bases Conversion Development Authority, tasked with developing former US military bases.
“Right now we’re redoing that list…We’re going to make a major announcement together with NEDA, DOF (Department of Finance) and implementing agencies in the next few weeks and you’ll likely see a longer list of flagship projects in the coming years,” Dizon said.
“If they are priority projects of national significance and game-changing projects moving into the next 15, 20 years, then they have to be part of the flagship project list,” he added.
The list will also include bridge projects and a number of operation and maintenance (O&M) deals for international airports, including Davao, Bohol, Laguindingan, he said.
