Pass on the Christmas tradition with these classic recipes

Christmas is celebrated differently depending on which corner of the globe you are in. For the humble households in the Philippines, notable traditions take place such as Christmas carolling, setting up 'parols' or Christmas lanterns, Misa de Gallo (dawn Mass), and the Christmas 'handa' or food spread for Noche Buena.

For most, preparing for Noche Buena becomes a tradition for families to bond during the holiday. It has also become one of the most important activities of the families to make the occasion more special.

This Christmas, prepare these all-time favorite Filipino classics that can live up to the endeared Filipino tradition.

SCRUMPTIOUS CREAMY CARBONARA

Ingredients:
½ cup chopped bacon
2 tbsp chopped garlic
2 packs NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream 250ml
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
¼ cup grated Cheddar cheese
½ cup water
300g spaghetti, cooked al dente

Preparation:
1. Fry bacon in a pan until crisp. Add garlic and cook until lightly browned.
2. Lower heat and pour in NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream, and cheese. Thin out with water and stir to combine.
3. Toss cooked spaghetti into the sauce until well-coated. Serve immediately.

SPECIAL FRUIT SALAD

Ingredients:
1 can fruit cocktail, drained well (507g DW)
3 pcs. grated young coconut (1/4 kg)
2 bottles medium red and green nata de coco, drained well
1 pack 250ml NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream
2/3 cup condensed milk
1/2 bar cheese, small diced

Preparation:
1. Drain fruit cocktail. Mix with grated coconut and nata de coco. (5 minutes)
2. Add NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream, condensed milk, and cheese. Mix well. (5 minutes)
3. Transfer on serving container and refrigerate overnight. Serve chilled. (overnight)

MANGO GRAHAM REF CAKE

Ingredients:
24 pcs graham crackers, crushed
6 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp sugar
1 pack 250ml NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream
2/3 cup condensed milk
4 pcs large ripe mangoes

Preparation:
1. Mix graham crackers, butter and sugar. Press at the bottom of a serving container. (5 minutes)
2. Whip NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream and condensed milk until light and smooth. (5 minutes)
3. Assemble mango and sweetened cream in layers. Refrigerate overnight. Serve well chilled.
