As a tribute to medical frontliners who courageously take the lead in the country's fight against the current health crisis, Green Cross Inc. held a series of donation drives around the country in line with its "Together We Are Stronger" campaign. Beginning early June, Green Cross Inc., one of the largest local producers of rubbing alcohol and bleach, deployed Frontliner Protection Packages consisting of over 10,000 locally made, level 4 medical-grade personal protective equipment to hospitals around the country.
Along with the Board of Investments, Department of Health (DOH), and Philippine General Hospital (PGH), the Confederation of Wearable Exporters of the Philippines (CONWEP) developed these protective suits to meet the strict requirements of DOH and PGH's Hospital Infection Control Unit (HICU). These are approved for use in high-risk disease situations such as intubation, operating rooms, wards for patients, and intensive care units.
"By sourcing the PPEs from CONWEP members, we are sure that we are providing reliable protection to our medical frontliners. More so, we are also helping stimulate local industries amid the ongoing [situation]," said Green Cross Inc. President Michael Co.
The PPEs, along with bottles of Green Cross Rubbing Alcohol and Zonrox Bleach, were given to hospitals in the National Capital Region with some of the lowest PPE coveralls inventory according to DOH, and the major provincial hospitals with the highest number of positive cases.
Among the hospital beneficiaries were Tondo Medical Center, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Bulacan Medical Center, Rizal Provincial Hospital System, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Zamboanga City Medical Center, and Southern Philippines Medical Center.
"Medical frontliners need the support of the community. When we protect our frontliners, we also protect the rest of the community. We believe that their victory against this disease is ours as well. As we face [this situation] together, we hope to provide them with complete protection through our PPE donations and our products," Co added.
The company also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and to continue sanitizing, hand washing, disinfecting, physical distancing, wearing protective gear, and staying at home as much as possible.
"We believe that the fight against [the disease] is far from over. As an established company, we feel it is our duty to provide Filipinos with only the most reliable, highest-quality sanitation and hygiene products," Co said.
For nearly 70 years now, as part of its commitment to provide reliable and affordable hygiene and sanitation products to Filipino homes, Green Cross Inc. has produced rubbing alcohol, sanitizers, insect repellent lotion, germicidal soaps, bleach, and cleaners for protection against harmful bacteria that cause diseases.
