Nonito Donaire Jr. is determined to prove wrong those critics who say he is overmatched in his fight against Naoya Inoue in the finals of the World Boxing Super Series bantamweight tournament in Saitama, Japan on November 7.

Donaire, 36, said he wants to show that age is just a number when he takes on Inoue, a Japanese knockout artist 10 years his junior.

"I'm confident right now, I don't see myself in any disadvantage. Not with power, not with speed," the Filipino world champion said.

Donaire seeks to unify his WBA "super" bantamweight with Inoue's WBA “regular,” IBF and The Ring bantamweight titles.

Whoever wins the final will also take home the Muhammad Ali trophy.

"We're very very excited. It's just around the corner but we're ahead of schedule in terms of physical ability," said Donaire.

He is also glad to see the bout pushing through after delays.

"For quite sometime I haven't heard from them (organizers) and a lot of people are saying they not going through it. But I think Japan pulled some strings to make the fight happen," Donaire added.
