A mobile application developed by senior high school students could soon address bullying in schools with a system for reporting such incidents.

The Bullying Ends Now (BEN) app would allow students to anonymously submit information and evidence of bullying, which can be reviewed by school authorities, said one of its creators, Reynald Kristian Tomenes, an 18-year-old student of the iAcademy in Makati.

The app, developed for a school project, would also share with relevant government agencies its data on which types of bullying are most common and where these happen, Tomenes told radio DZMM.

The Grade 12 student said he and his classmates saw the need for the app after a survey in iAcademy and another school found that three-fourths of the students have experienced or witnessed bullying.

The iAcademy is helping Tomenes' group iron out the app, he said.

"We have the base functionality working. We're just really making sure we have something that is ready for commercial use," he added.
