The whole country can expect generally fair weather on Monday despite a low pressure area off the Philippines' Pacific coast, the state weather bureau said.

The LPA was spotted 1,030 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan at 3 a.m. It has yet to directly affect the country and may dissipate in the next days, said PAGASA weather forecaster Meno Mendoza.

He added the fair weather may be briefly marred by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA last week said the "habagat" season or the southwest monsoon has officially ended and cool weather associated with the holidays is on its way.

Two or 3 more storms are expected to enter the country before the year ends, Mendoza said.
