Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption chair Dante Jimenez on Wednesday said Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is acting like a dictator after she allegedly failed to appoint several officials in the judiciary.

Speaking to DZMM, Jimenez explained why the VACC and Vanguard of the Philippine Constitution (VCPI) filed an impeachment complaint against Sereno.

One reason cited in the complaint is that Sereno allegedly releasing administrative orders without the approval of the Supreme Court en banc. Sereno also failed to fill the year-long vacancies for a deputy clerk of court, a chief attorney and 2 assistant court administrators, the complainants said.

"Dapat ang en banc ang nag de-decide, halimbawa ang travel expenses pala dapat may approval ng en banc. Yung mga appointment ng personnel at officials, may mga hindi siya in-appoint na officials na nakita namin will really affect yung kabagalan ng justice system," he told DZMM.

"3 years niya inupuan. Para siyang naging diktador," he added.

The Chief Justice has not received a copy of the complaint, Supreme Court spokesman Theodore Te said.

Jimenez said he is hoping that the complaint will get the one-third number of votes in the Lower House to impeach Sereno.

"May tiwala pa kami sa mga representatives of the people," he said.

No member of the House of Representatives has yet to endorse the complaint.
