MANILA - Pregnant women during the time of the enhanced community quarantine should do online consultations as hospitals continue to fill with people getting screened for the highly-contagious coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a doctor said Wednesday.

"'Yong mga pregnant at nag-aalala sa kanilang pregnancies ay maghingi ng online consultation paano kung maubos ang supply ng vitamins for example," Dr. Love Salvador told radio DZMM.

Salvador, a psychologist, also urged local government units to provide adequate food and assistance for families with pregnant women, citing the effect of lack of resources to one's mental health.

The Department of Health has recorded a total of 3,764 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 177 fatalities and 84 recovered.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said majority of the cases are in Metro Manila, the nation's capital.

Worldwide, there are more than 1.3 million people infected with the new strain of coronavirus. The Philippines ranks between the 30th to 35th place among countries with the most number of cases.
