Bike shops at the Port Area in Manila are seeing higher sales even in the time of the enhanced community quarantine to fight the COVID-19 spread.

One bike seller said his sales have doubled, with more people buying bicycles due to lack of public transportation as a result of the Luzon lockdown. He said many buyers favor bicycles with baskets so that they can carry their purchases.

Most of the bicycles are surplus units from Japan that sell for P2,500 or higher.

Among the buyers are security guards, employees at convenience stores and nurses who use the bikes to get to work. Jekki Pascual, ABS-CBN News
