The temperature in Metro Manila reached its highest so far this year on Saturday, the state weather bureau said.

The record-high temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius was tallied in Quezon City on April 6, said PAGASA weather forecaster Lorie Mae Dela Cruz, adding that warmer weather is expected in the next days.

The temperature in the region could soar to 38 degrees Celsius at least once this month, PAGASA earlier said.

The easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific were affecting the entire country on Sunday, Dela Cruz said.

Mindanao and Eastern Visayas, however, could experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to a cloud formation.

There is a very low chance of rain, meanwhile, over the rest of Visayas and Luzon, she said.
