MANILA - Companies need to look at how they incorporate "wellness" in workplace design to cater to millennials, officials of a property consultancy firm said on Tuesday.

Young professionals want more comfort and flexibility in the workplace. They also look for wellness, good air quality, natural light and food options, said Victoria Gilbert, associate director of Colliers International Hong Kong.

"For the millennials the distinction between home and work has really started to blur," Gilbert told ANC's Market Edge with Cathy Yang.

"When you look at wellness design in the workplace, you are actually looking at people as human beings," she said.

Incorporating ideas on wellness in workplace design leads to "intangible positives, said Dom Frederick Andaya, director for tenant representation at Colliers International.

Andaya cited Google and Wells Fargo as companies that have designed their offices with wellness in mind.

"Because at the end of the day it's not the physical space that companies look at, it's the welfare of the employees which are the most important asset of the business," Andaya said.
