She is best known as "a fervent advocate of children’s rights and protection, a passionate proponent of sustainable livelihood among the underprivileged, and an unswerving champion for environment preservation."

But behind the pillar of strength was a caring and selfless individual who "inspired people within and beyond the organization (ABS-CBN Foundation International) to help and serve others."

Her brief stint in government showed her unwavering principles even when faced with non-confirmation as secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The setback only strengthened her resolve to call attention to the destruction of the country's natural resources.

"We will miss Gina’s light, as a private person, as a leader, and as a crusader. While she left us a void that cannot be filled, we take comfort in knowing that with love, like she had shown us, there remains hope and beauty in the world we live in," ABS-CBN Chairman Mark Lopez said.

From her early years with her family and up to her recent public engagements, here is a collection of photos on Gina Lopez.
