Philippine Military Academy cadet Darwin Dormitorio died due to cardiac arrest, police said. The young cadet reportedly vomited and complained of stomach pain before he passed away last Wednesday.

MANILA - Hazing victim Cadet Darwin Dormitorio's father is devastated over his son's brutal death especially since he has spent a big part of his life in the military.

Dormitorio's father, retired Army Colonel William Dormitorio, is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1974.

Speaking to DZMM, Dexter Dormitorio, Darwin's brother, said their father is in pain over what happened.

"Yung tatay ko po, sa totoo lang, he is devastated. It just doesn't show kasi hindi siya nagpapakita sa media. Gusto niyang marinig lahat [and] to give way to an impartial investigation," he said.

He added that his father cannot reconcile the fact that his son died in the institution that shaped him.

At the very same time, sobrang nasasaktan din siya kasi the very institution that he loves is what took his son away from him for good," he said.

When asked whether Darwin was bullied because he was the son of a military man, Dexter said his brother never complained about it.

So, umamin siya.

While it is not verified, Dexter said it is possible that his brother may have been bullied after their father sent text messages directly to a senior tactical officer of the PMA.

Dexter said some of the other cadets, not only his brother, were complaining that they were always hungry, so their father sent a message to the officer.

So 'yung tatay ko, took the initiative na sabihin na gutom palagi 'yung mga cadets niyo, I suggest you feed them properly. 'Yun po 'yung una niyang text," Dexter said.

His father also sent the officer a message when Darwin told him about a fellow cadet who was planning to leave the PMA.

So ang itinext niya po, 'yung senior tactical officer ulit na cadet is planning to resign, sayang," Dexter said.

"So siguro po," he added.

Darwin, 20, died on September 18 after complaining of stomach pain. He was hospitalized twice in the previous month and had bruises on his stomach consistent with hazing.

Police have identified 7 suspects in Darwin's hazing death.
