The Ateneo Blue Eagles never let their foot off the pedal completing a 16-0 sweep, the first ever in UAAP Men’s Basketball history, as they defeated the UST Growling Tigers in convincing fashion for their third consecutive championship.

Coach Tab Baldwin and his wards showed a masterful grasp of the game as they let their opponents lead only once, 3-2, in the contest.

Even so, coach Aldin Ayo and super rookies Renz Abando, Mark Nonoy, and season MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo showed tremendous heart as they kept the Tigers within striking distance for most of the game.

An inspired last-minute performance from Abando was not enough as Ateneo forced a stop and let the time expire for an 86-79 victory.
