MANILA, Philippines -- For leading Petron to a second consecutive All-Filipino title in the Philippine Superliga (PSL), veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan was named Most Valuable Player.
Dimaculangan registered 31 excellent sets on top of 3 points in Petron's 25-22, 26-24, 25-23 triumph in Game 3 of the finals against F2 Logistics on Thursday at FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
She put the Blaze Spikers at championship point through a clever 1-2 play that gave Petron a 24-22 lead in the third and final set.
This is Dimaculangan's first MVP trophy in the PSL.
Meanwhile, Cignal HD's Rachel Anne Daquis won 1st Best Outside Spiker honors, while Generika-Ayala's Patty Orendain was the 2nd Best Outside Spiker.
Ria Meneses, also of Generika-Ayala, was the 1st Best Middle Blocker, while Majoy Baron of F2 Logistics was the 2nd Best Middle Blocker.
Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who had 13 points in Petron's Game 3 triumph, earned Best Opposite honors, while Kim Fajardo of F2 Logistics was the Best Setter.
Generika-Ayala's Kath Arado was named the Best Libero, while Mylene Paat of Cignal received a special citation as the tournament's Best Scorer.
The Lifesavers had placed third in the All-Filipino Conference.
Arado also won Best Libero honors in the PSL Collegiate Grand Slam, wherein she led University of the East to a bronze medal finish.
University of the Philippines skipper Tots Carlos was the MVP of the Collegiate Grand Slam, as well as the 1st Best Outside Spiker after towing the Lady Maroons to the championship.
UE's Mary Ann Mendrez won 2nd Best Outside Spiker honors.
UP's Aie Gannaban and University of Santo Tomas' Tin Francisco won 1st and 2nd Best Middle Blocker honors, while UE's Lai Bendon earned the Best Setter award.
UST's Milena Alessandrini was the Best Scorer of the Collegiate Grand Slam.
