MANILA — Now that Pido Jarencio has made his coaching intentions known, the ball is in University of Santo Tomas' court.
Jarencio attended the varsity team's Christmas party on Friday and made clear his desire to return to his alma mater.
"Kung vacant ‘yung position, gusto kong bumalik, gusto kong tulungan ‘yung UST," Jarencio said in a story posted on UST school publication the Varsitarian.
"[Gusto ko na] na umakyat tayo ulit [sa standings] at the same time, ‘yung ma-involve natin lahat ng estudyante [at] alumni ulit [at] ma-encourage natin na manood sila."
(If the position is vacant, I'd like to return, I'd like to help UST. I want us to go up the standings again and at the same time get the students and alumni to be involved and encourage them to watch.)
Last week, Jarencio triggered speculation of a comeback with a tweet calling out "Let's bring back the glory!"
Jarencio coached the Tigers for eight years, guiding them to the UAAP title in 2006 before leaving to coach in the PBA in 2014.
